These projects were designed with the Mechanical Engineering firm as the prime consultant to the Owners. The natural gas or propane powered turbines manufactured by Capstone are about the size of a large two door refrigerator. They provide grid-connected electrical power to reduce electrical utility costs while the exhaust heat created by the micro-turbines is reused for water heating or chillers. Applications have been at vineyards in Napa, correctional facilities in Santa Cruz and Contra Costa Counties, public swimming pools, hotels and as prime power for Treebones Campground in Big Sur. Aurum Engineers consider this “Light Green” for it’s efficient use of a non-renewable resource and can be used as a back-up source of power for a facility.
